Northwood Health Systems has developed a comprehensive continuum of high quality behavioral health services, and employs a wide range of clinicians including:
Psychiatrists
Psychiatrists provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, oversee Northwood’s medication assisted treatment programs for addiction, and manage a variety of psychiatric medications. Psychiatrists also function in the role of clinical supervisor, and play an integral role in the clinical management of Northwood’s crisis stabilization units.
Psychologists
Licensed psychologists serve as clinical leaders at Northwood. Very versatile in Northwood’s continuum, psychologists provide intake assessments, psychological evaluations, intensive outpatient therapy, and chair interdisciplinary team meetings. Psychologists also provide much of Northwood’s clinical supervision, and conduct mental hygiene evaluations.
Advanced Practice Nurses and Physician Assistants
Advanced Practice Nurses and Physician Assistants work in conjunction with Northwood’s Medical Director to conduct comprehensive evaluations, manage medications, and provide treatment to patients on Northwood crisis stabilization units.
Outpatient Therapists
Outpatient Therapists provide a variety of services including intensive group and individual therapy, individual and group supportive counseling, and play an integral role in Northwood’s Intensive Outpatient Programs.
Service Coordinators and Case Managers
Service Coordinators and Case Managers are integral to the success of Northwood’s continuum of care. Responsible for ongoing assessment of patients, referring and linking patients to needed services, and monitoring the implementation of the patient’s treatment plan, Service Coordinators and Case Managers have at least a bachelors degree in a human services field.
Behavior Support Professional
Behavior Support Professionals assess and develop plans to modify and improve problem behavior in children and disabled adults. Once a behavior plan has been developed, the Behavior Support Professional ensures proper implementation of the plan by care providers, and proper outcomes for the patient. Behavior Support Professionals have a bachelor’s degree in a human services field, and experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Addiction Specialists
Addiction Specialists provide outpatient therapy and counseling to many of Northwood’s patients with addictions problems. Addiction Specialists also manage Northwood’s Intensive Outpatient Program for Substance Abuse, called First Step.
